A woman wearing glasses and a “Good Looking Design” t-shirt smiles while speaking with two attendees at a business expo. They are in front of a booth with text that says “Building brands that resonate, websites that convert.” A screen nearby displays the word “DRURY.” All individuals wear yellow lanyards, and the scene suggests a friendly, professional networking environment.

Good Looking Design were lucky enough to sponsor and design for Evolve [25], the first of what we hope to be many events bringing together pioneers in tech, business and education. Hosted by Silicon Brighton at the iconic Brighton Dome the event provided time and space for being introduced to new ideas, reflection and connection. The atmosphere was electric and the turn out was incredible (despite it being on a sunny day that close to the beach!).

After designing the website for Evolve our attention turned to our own stall. Trying to get across what you do in a 2m x 2m box is never easy but I think you will agree that Greg did a fantastic job. A bonus for us was that being located opposite the main stage we got to listen to some of the fantastic talks. We particularly enjoyed the Imperial College Pitch competition, where four finalists got to pitch their ideas.

A trade show booth for “Good Looking Design” featuring three panels with black backgrounds. The left panel promotes a free brand health check with a visible QR code. The center panel displays the company’s tagline and lists industries they serve, such as pharma, construction, and wellness. The right panel outlines services like brand identity, website creation, and brand implementation. Two black director-style chairs with the company’s logo are placed in front of a table and screen.

The day gave us the chance to catch up with old industry friends and clients (managed to catch Heidi Swigon on building sustainably). It also allowed us to make new connections, notably Root and Branch, who we are pleased to say we will be partnering with in the future for any projects where more complex functionality and/or a sustainable build is important. We still love making websites with Framer as these offer a quick turn around and reduce development costs, but having different options for different situations will allow us to provide a more flexible offering.

The exciting news is that we are already looking ahead to Evolve [26] and it’s going to be even bigger and even better.
